Cruelty means that the court will favor one spouse because the other is guilty of cruel treatment toward the complaining spouse. The treatment must be of such a hostile nature that living together any more is intolerable. Adultery means that one spouse has committed adultery and the court will favor the other spouse. Conviction of Felony means that one of the spouses has been convicted of a felony and has been in jail or prison for at least one year and has not been pardoned. Remember that if you testified for your spouse or even against your spouse, the court will not give you this type of divorce. Abandonment means that one spouse left the other with intent to abandon and has been away from the other for one year or more. Living apart means that the spouses have been living separately for three years or more. Confinement in Mental Hospital means that the court will grant you a divorce because one spouse has been legally confined in a state mental hospital for at least three years or more. After the divorce is final, you will need to go through a name change for the females.
